About

About Sharon: I have been dancing since my mother sewed on the pink W (wubble-u!) on my blue leotard at Miss Wandas’s School of Dance in Philadelphia where I took tap, ballet and modern jazz. I began studying yoga in 1976 while in high school, and became a yoga instructor in 1984. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education at California State University, Northridge, and received my license as a massage therapist from The Touch Therapy Institute. After graduation, I began a career consulting with medical professionals in the fields of probiotics and nutritional supplements. I kept up my love and practice of somatic, free form movement classes through workshops, intensives and teacher trainings.

I am certified in both Movement Expression and Dance Alive® and have been facilitating classes since 1997. I have earned an advanced certification as a Relax & Renew® Trainer in Restorative yoga through Judith Hanson Lasater, Ph.D. I also hold a 500 hour E-RYT registration with Yoga Alliance. I have been trained in the International Dance for PD® program through the Mark Morris Dance Group in Brooklyn, NY.

For the last 40 years I have combined my inherent understanding of mind, body and spirit with my knowledge of touch, yoga, movement and breath-work. Today, I have a full-time practice as a massage therapist, yoga instructor, and somatic movement educator and currently lead a variety of classes in the Billings area.

I have had the good fortune to enjoy international travel. Exploring new places and finding common threads of interest between people of all cultures and ethnicities is a passion I hold dear.  I have done yoga, sat in meditation, chanted in song and prayer in Europe, Hong Kong, Mexico and many cities across the United States. I have danced and drummed with musicians who have deep roots in ancient cultures.

In Edinburgh, Scotland I joined a Dance for Parkinson’s class – connecting with some of this unique community across the pond.   A train ride away in Northumberland, England, I participated in a 6-day movement/dance immersion with people from the surrounding area and beyond. Worldwide interest in expressive movement for health is gaining traction every year, and I continue to learn as new findings are made available.

Facilitating a workshop for a group of elder women in the beautiful mountains of California proved, essentially, that it makes no difference our age, shape or where we are in the world.  With music, dance, good food and a smile, all the language we need to connect with others is right here, and that can bring us (back) home to our Self.

When I’m not in session, I enjoy all things creative including nature, art in all its forms, good reads, great laughs, inspiring conversation, design, style, road trips and the list goes on!
